MESSAGE

The incontrovertible benefits and blessings of fellowship with the Holy Spirit can’t be overemphasized. The Holy Spirit wants to be involved with every part of your life, and you must let Him. He wants your progress, advancement, prosperity, and success to be evident for all to see.

Sometimes, a Christian might experience a period of remarkable growth and progress where things are moving swiftly and smoothly. However, there may be occasions when everything suddenly seems to stall. Despite attempting various strategies and ideas, nothing appears to change.

Such scenarios often arise when one starts neglecting the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their personal lives. When the speed or rate of growth reduces or completely stalls, either in numerical growth, finances, or both, and it becomes evident that the previous approaches that worked for others and yourself are no longer yielding the same results, what should you do?

The best thing to do if you want to come out of that situation and elevate your work to a higher level is to fast and pray with the understanding that you are initiating a change and transition within yourself.

The focus of the fast, therefore, should not be about changing the situation, as that is not the root problem. Rather, the key lies in strengthening your personal fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Fasting is a way of turning your spirit and mind away from the carnal things of this world in order to focus them on the Spirit; you set your heart and your mind on the Word in study, meditation and prayer.

Remember, the objective of the prayer and fasting is to nurture and develop an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. By prioritizing this aspect of your life, you can expect to experience the desired changes and growth in other areas as well.

 

PRAYER / CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank you for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit—my Helper, Counsellor, Teacher, Advocate, Comforter, Strengthener and Standby—whom you sent to lead and guide me through life, in fulfilling my destiny in Christ. Through my fellowship with the Holy Spirit, I walk in victory today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: As a church member or a worker, you cannot struggle in life if you engage in covenant practices.

 

Message

Sometime ago, I saw a church worker who was stranded. He could not pay his children’s school fees or handle his other financial responsibilities.

I said to him, “It is well with you. Do you tithe?”

He said, ‘Yes’.

I asked him “Do you tithe consistently and faithfully?”

He said, “No.” Then I understood the root of his challenge.

You must understand that it is not the occasional practice of God’s principles that brings results, but continual and consistent practice.

Now, there are unbelievers or people who are not even established in church. Some of them have not been to church for a long time but when they hear teachings on covenant practices, they run with them. They practice it, and consequently, their lives change.

On the contrary, though sadly, there are those who have been in church for many years, but when they hear a teaching on covenant practices, it enters into one of their ears and comes out through the other. It is not supposed to be so.

The truth is, it is not possible to claim your love for someone when it is not backed with giving. As a lady, any man who claims to love you but is only interested in what to get from you, run for your life. Such a man would empty you when he finally marries you. Such a man would kick you out and look for someone else after emptying you. So, the proof of authentic love is giving.

In my own life, my wife and I have given things to God many times to the point that if it were possible to drop ourselves inside the offering basket any day, we would do so.

So, the practice of the Kingdom cannot be negotiated. As a church member or a worker, you cannot struggle in life if you engage in covenant practices.

Prove your love to God by constant releases of your resources for the advancement of His Kingdom.

MESSAGE:

In Ezekiel 37:1-11, the Bible tells us about the valley of dry bones where God asked the Prophet, “Can these bones live?” Ezekiel said, “Only you know”. In other words, Ezekiel was saying, “My faith can’t handle that”, but the dry bones eventually lived. In Mark 9:17-27, a man brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus’ disciples. They couldn’t deliver the child and thus referred him to the Lord Jesus, who said, “O ye of little faith”. The man said, “I believe, but help thou my unbelief”. The day I heard that story, I was so glad, because that means if my faith is not enough, I can cry to Him and He will make it grow.

When I became General Overseer, we loved to cook and eat together during our convention, but we were having challenges with the finances for the feeding and the parishes were groaning under the cost. One day during the convention, out of desperation, I said, “One day will come when you will be able to come to the Convention without bringing any money at all”. When we finished that night, and I got back to my office to pray, the Lord spoke to me, “Son, when do you want that to happen?” I said, “One of these days” and He responded, “Why not from now?” At that time we were about 10,000 people. How would I feed 10,000 people for one week? The Lord said, “Announce to the entire congregation that you will feed them next convention”. I said, “Daddy, I’ve never disobeyed You before, but this one? I can’t tell them”. He didn’t put any pressure on me, so the Convention ended and everybody left, but they came back the following month for the Holy Ghost Service and God repeated it. I said, “Lord, my faith can’t carry it”, and He said to me, “Son, you are about to lose a miracle”. I therefore announced, “Brethren, next year, don’t bring any money for feeding, you will be fed”. That was over 20 years ago, and God has not failed once.

You may think I am a man of great faith, but the truth is that my Daddy is the One who helps my little faith, so I depend entirely on Him. He has never let me down and I know He will not let you down too.

TOPIC: LABOURING FERVENTLY IN PRAYERS

Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God (Col 4:12)

 

MESSAGE

The apostle Paul cites Epaphras as one “Always labouring fervently in prayers.” Those two words “labouring fervently” are rendered that way to provide a good understanding of what he actually did and how. Both words are from the same Greek word ‘agonizomai’—fight! 

You can read that verse thus, “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, greets you, always fighting for you in prayers.” A question to ask would be, “If Epaphras was fighting for them in prayers, who was he fighting against?” It certainly wasn’t God, as it was God who inspired him to pray in the first place; it’s God who hears and answers prayers. So, certainly, God is not the enemy.

Now, the purpose of his prayer gives us an idea of the enemy. His prayer was for the Christians in Colossae to stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. This must be because there’s an enemy, Satan, out there trying to stop them from becoming perfect and complete in the will of God. This he tries to do by hindering or attempting to hinder their Christian growth.

Paul describes these demoniacal forces in Ephesians 6:12 when he said, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” These evil forces are the ones darkening the minds of men, swaying them from the path of God’s truth.

It’s the reason we must fight for them in prayers as Epaphras did. I encourage you to write down names of people who you might have noticed or heard are not walking in the light of God’s Word or have strayed from the faith, and fight for them in prayer. Pray fervently for them every day, and you’d see remarkable results. Hallelujah!

 

PRAYER / CONFESSION

Dear Father, I break the influence of Satan over my family members, friends and others around the world who aren’t yet born again. I pray that their minds and hearts are opened to the Lord, as the light of the glorious Gospel shines with great intensity into their hearts to embrace the grace of God for their salvation, in Jesus’ Name. SCRIPTURE: For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: Acts 13:36

 

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When people know what to do because they see what you do, then you are a role model indeed to your generation.

 

MESSAGE:

The Will of God for His children is for them to exist as role models, pacesetters, front liners, or road pointers.

When people know what to do because they see what you do, then you are a role model indeed to your generation.

When people know the steps to take because they see the steps you are taking, when they know how to live or lead because of the way you live and lead, then you are a role model.

By the grace of God, my siblings worship in Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

One day, one of my biological sisters, who used to worship in our church before she got married came to me and requested for prayer. She said, ‘Sir, please pray for me. I want to marry.”

Then I asked her, “What kind of husband do you want?”

And she said, “Your type.”

Then I asked further, “In what regard?”

She said, “In every regard.”

And I said, “So, he will be a medical doctor then?” She said, “Yes sir.”

So, I prayed for her.

After one year, she called me and said, “Sir, the man has arrived. He is a medical doctor too. He loves God and is very passionate for God.

The question is, “What is it that will make your own siblings follow your footsteps?”

You know the Bible says that a prophet is not without honour except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house (Mark 6:4). But when those of your home begin to honour you and value what you carry, it is because God has helped you to be a role model.

Please make up your mind to model your generation with your quality and impactful living.

 

REMEMBER THIS: When people know what to do because they see what you do, then you are a role model indeed to your generation.

 

ASSIGNMENTS:

Make up your mind to model your generation for God by your exemplary life.

Follow the principles and practices of the Scripture, and live out the examples of impactful people.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You make my life a model, a symbol and portrait that people would follow to know You. Deliver me from “impactless” existence.

7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Zephaniah 1-3

 

MESSAGE

One of the things I have discovered about God in my little walk with Him is that He wants to be your priority at all times. He said in Matthew 6:33 that you should seek His kingdom and righteousness first. In Psalm 10:4, the Bible describes those who do not seek God and have Him in their thoughts as proud. In Deuteronomy 26:2, God said that your very first harvest should be given to Him. He wants to be your number one or nothing at all to you. In fact, one of His names is ‘Jealous’ (Exodus 34:14).

Now, when God sees that you always put Him first and you have honoured Him, then He will begin to work out a befitting reward for you. In Proverbs 3:9-10, the Bible says: “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine”. In our Bible reading for today, Elijah told the widow of Zarephath to prepare his meal first before making that of herself and her son. Some other women would have said, “Prophet, did you not hear that there is only one meal left? If I prepare that one for you, there will be nothing left to prepare for me and my son”. Instead of saying that, she honoured God in the life of the Prophet in that difficult situation and in return, she never lacked food again. While the entire nation was starving, she had food in abundance. That is what happens when you put God first.

I was in Ilesha, holding a crusade many years ago when my Professor took my PhD thesis to the external examiner. Normally they post it, but he bought a ticket and took it. If you ask all those who got their PhDs back then, they will tell you that it usually takes months for external examiners to invite PhD candidates for an oral examination. While I was busy in Ilesha doing the will of God, my Professor took my thesis to the external examiner and said, “I am not going back until you read this”. After the external examiner read it, he said “Go and give the boy his PhD”. If you do the will of God first, He will take care of all your needs. When you honour Him and put Him first in all you do, what you will get in return will be a multiplication of what you sacrificed for Him.

TOPIC: MAKING DISCIPLES

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20).

 

MESSAGE

The opening text from the New International Version says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations….” The Lord Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all nations. A disciple is someone who follows their leader.

So, if someone refuses to “follow” you, then you’re yet to truly make that one a disciple. The Master’s vision is for them to become our disciples, accompanying us and emulating our actions in doing the things the Lord asked us to do.

In 1 Corinthians 11:1, the Apostle Paul said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” Notice that he didn’t say, “I’ve led you to Christ, so follow Him.” No! He explicitly stated, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” Therefore, when we lead souls to Christ, we must teach them to do what we do and help them cultivate the habit of going to church.

Let them know that church gatherings are mandatory for us as Christians (Luke 4:16). Don’t be satisfied if they only attend special church programs and neglect the actual church services. They must become disciples, and for that to happen, we must lead by example. Remember, the local church is a place of growth, teaching, training and protection. Everyone needs a family; so bring them into the church family.

 

PRAYER / CONFESSION

Dear Father, I pray for many around the world whose zeal for the things of the Spirit may have dissipated, that their passion be rekindled, and they take their personal times of fellowship with the Spirit and study of the Word seriously; that there be unity, stability and growth as we, the Church, attain the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If there is no one learning from you, it is possible that your life is wasting.

 

It has been confirmed that the value of your life is the impact you make in the lives of others. We are created to impact our generation. We exist to show the world through our impact, who our God is.

You see, as a child of God, someone must be drawing from your life because of your impact and influence. Someone must be benefitting from your life, physically, mentally or spiritually.

The truth is, if there is no one learning from you, it is possible that your life is wasting.

As a young lady, is there any younger lady who is saying concerning you, “I want to be like that sister? I like her fire and passion.”

I remember when I was in the University, there was a young man who repented and gave his life to Jesus Christ.

Wherever I stood to pray in the medical student’s fellowship gathering, he would stand beside me to pray.

One day, I asked him, “What are you doing?”

“I am just observing you. I want to pray like you are praying,” he answered.

Today, that young man is a pastor and he is doing very well.

I remember in those days in the university, people would just come to our room. When I asked, “What did you come for?” They would say, “I just came to catch the atmosphere.” This was because the atmosphere of the place was a prayer atmosphere; the atmosphere of God’s Presence.

In your life, there should be someone who would look at you and say, “Please, show me how to move; show me how to be a successfully married man; show me how to combine academics and spirituality, and not fail in any of them.”

Beloved, you must make up your mind to live a life of impact.

REMEMBER THIS: If there is no one learning from you, it is possible that your life is wasting.

  2. Give yourself to prayer consistently so you can impact your world.

 

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I ask for the grace to impact my generation for You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

MEMORIZE:
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

 

Read:
Isaiah 66:12-14
12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

 

MESSAGE:
Since your Daddy is called the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), you must start behaving like a child of the Prince of Peace. In our Bible reading today, He promised you peace like a river. If you have been finding it difficult to sleep, remember Psalm 127:2, where He said He gives His beloved sleep.

When I became General Overseer, we had 39 parishes, but there were so many problems. I was always so worried about the work of God and though I was just 40 years old, my hair had started to turn grey. I asked God, “Lord, why?” and He said, “You are carrying a burden that is not yours. You cannot share My glory. If you cannot share My glory, you cannot share My burden; let me carry My burden”. Right there and then, I stopped worrying, and my hair gradually turned black again.

If the devil has seized your peace, you need to claim it back. James 4:7 says you should resist the devil and he will flee from you. At times you need to fight to get that peace. Initially, when you start resisting the devil, he will act as if he wants to fight, but when he realises that you are not going to back down, he will flee.

When I was very young, I was very small in stature and there was a bully in my primary school. He knew I couldn’t defeat him in a fight, so he always tormented me. He tortured me at every opportunity. One day, something moved inside of me. I just decided, “I’m going to fight this boy. I know I can’t beat him because he is too big, but we will fight until he kills me, and then the government will kill him, so that it will be a draw”. The next time he came to torment me, I said, “Don’t touch me”. Shocked, he said, “You spoke?” and hit me. I hit him too and He knocked me down. I got up and hit him again. He knocked me down several times but I kept getting up. After a while, he must have thought, “This boy wants to die”, so he ran away and I chased after him. The bully was now running from me because I refused to back down. From that day on, I had peace. Your Saviour is the Prince of Peace and He has already given you His peace (John 14:27). Claim it today and it shall be yours in Jesus’ name.

 

Key Point:
Sometimes you have to fight for your peace. Resist the devil in prayers and he will leave you alone.
